On March 30, 2025, the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed near Nirgundi, Manguli in Odisha’s Cuttack district at 11:54 AM. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) confirmed that 11 coaches derailed, disrupting train movement in the area.
Railway authorities and disaster response teams were immediately dispatched to the site.
Personnel from the Odisha Fire Service and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived swiftly to assist in the rescue mission.
Fire Service Director-General Sudhansu Sarangi stated that multiple rescue units were deployed to evacuate passengers and assess damage.
